Amazing turtles
A Imagine a quiet beach at night. Big, dark shapes slowly come out of the sea. They are green turtles, and they have got enormous flippers.
B These are the famous green turtles of Sabah, and they are on a very special journey. Every year, they swim more than 2,000 kilometres across the sea to the Turtle Islands. It is a very long journey for a sea animal.
C Their journey usually starts in July or August and it takes about two months. The turtles can sometimes swim more than 40 kilometres in one day, and they often dive very deep – perhaps 50 metres under the sea.
D But not all the turtles get to the islands. Many don’t survive the long and dangerous journey because of fishing nets and plastic in the sea.
E Green turtles are the most famous animals in the Turtle Islands Park. There are books, TV programmes and websites about them. There’s an amazing film too – it’s called Journey of the Turtles. Watch it and you can swim with them too!
main idea = 主旨
这一题问整篇文章的主旨:绿海龟为什么有名?第二段说它们每年游两千多公里,去到海龟岛,是一段很特别的旅程,所以答案是去长途旅行。文章没有说它们去寒冷的地方,也没有说它们每年同一天到达。
例子: They are on a very special journey. 它们在进行一段很特别的旅程。
注意: 先读完整篇文章,再选最能概括全文的答案。
main idea = idea utama
Soalan ini bertanya tentang idea utama seluruh teks. Perenggan B menyatakan penyu berenang lebih daripada dua ribu kilometer setiap tahun ke Pulau Penyu dalam satu perjalanan yang sangat istimewa. Teks itu tidak menyebut tempat yang sejuk dan tidak berkata mereka tiba pada hari yang sama setiap tahun.
Contoh: They are on a very special journey. — Mereka dalam satu perjalanan yang sangat istimewa.
Awas: Baca seluruh teks sebelum memilih idea utama.
BRead the text again. Match sentences 1–4 with paragraphs A–E.Q1–2 of 4
Example: A long journey deep in the sea. → C

Tap the left side first, then the right side.
paragraph = 段落
每一句是一个段落的小标题。在电视或电影里看到海龟,说的是最后一段介绍的影片;一次很长的游泳,说的是第二段两千多公里的旅程。先读句子里的关键词,再回到文章找意思相同的段落。
例子: See the turtles on a screen. → E(有一部关于海龟的影片).
注意: 有一段不用,就是例子已经用过的那一段。
paragraph = perenggan
Setiap ayat ialah seperti tajuk kecil untuk satu perenggan. Melihat penyu di skrin berkaitan dengan filem dalam perenggan terakhir. Satu renangan yang sangat jauh berkaitan dengan perjalanan lebih dua ribu kilometer. Baca kata kunci dalam ayat dahulu, kemudian cari perenggan yang sama maksudnya.
Contoh: See the turtles on a screen. — Lihat penyu di skrin.
Awas: Satu perenggan sudah digunakan dalam contoh.
BRead the text again. Match sentences 1–4 with paragraphs A–E.Q3–4 of 4

match headings = 配对标题
黑暗海滩上的大影子,就是第一段晚上从海里慢慢爬上岸的海龟;不是每一只海龟都安全,就是第四段说的很多海龟因为渔网和塑料而活不下来。小标题常常用不同的词说同样的意思,例如危险的和不安全的。
例子: Big shapes on a dark beach. → A 晚上的海滩。
注意: dangerous 和 not safe 意思差不多。
match headings = padankan tajuk
Bayang-bayang besar di pantai yang gelap menggambarkan penyu yang keluar dari laut pada waktu malam. Tidak semua penyu selamat pula menggambarkan perenggan tentang penyu yang mati kerana jaring ikan dan plastik. Tajuk selalunya menggunakan perkataan lain yang membawa maksud yang sama.
Contoh: Big shapes on a dark beach. — Bayang-bayang besar di pantai yang gelap.
Awas: Dangerous dan not safe mempunyai maksud yang hampir sama.
CRead the text again. Correct the word in bold. Write the correct word.Q1–2 of 5
Example: very small flippers → enormous
Amazing turtles
A Imagine a quiet beach at night. Big, dark shapes slowly come out of the sea. They are green turtles, and they have got enormous flippers.
B These are the famous green turtles of Sabah, and they are on a very special journey. Every year, they swim more than 2,000 kilometres across the sea to the Turtle Islands. It is a very long journey for a sea animal.

correct the information = 改正资料
第1和第2题:先找出粗体字,再回到文章找正确的资料。第一题看第一段,找出大影子是在一天的什么时候从海里出来的;第二题看第三段,找出海龟的旅程通常在哪几个月开始。只要写出正确的词,不必抄整个句子。
例子: Look for the time words in paragraph A. 在第一段找表示时间的词。
注意: 第2题的句子在空格前面已经有 in,只写月份,不要再写 in.
correct the information = betulkan maklumat
Untuk soalan 1 dan 2, cari perkataan yang dicetak tebal, kemudian cari fakta yang betul dalam teks. Bagi soalan pertama, perenggan A memberitahu waktu dalam sehari. Bagi soalan kedua, perenggan C menyebut bulan perjalanan itu bermula. Tulis perkataan yang betul sahaja, tidak perlu menyalin seluruh ayat.
Contoh: Look for the time words in paragraph A. — Cari perkataan masa dalam perenggan A.
Awas: Dalam soalan 2, perkataan in sudah ada, jadi tulis nama bulan sahaja.
CRead the text again. Correct the word in bold. Write the correct word.Q3–4 of 5
Example: very small flippers → enormous
Amazing turtles
A Imagine a quiet beach at night. Big, dark shapes slowly come out of the sea. They are green turtles, and they have got enormous flippers.

E Green turtles are the most famous animals in the Turtle Islands Park. There are books, TV programmes and websites about them. There’s an amazing film too – it’s called Journey of the Turtles. Watch it and you can swim with them too!
numbers and reasons = 数字和原因
第3和第4题:第三段说海龟一天可以游四十多公里,不是四百公里,看数字时要数清楚有几个零。第四段说很多海龟活不下来,是因为海里的渔网和塑料,不是因为鲨鱼。写原因时把两样东西都写出来最好。
例子: Many turtles don’t survive because of fishing nets and plastic. 渔网和塑料害死很多海龟。
注意: 40 和 400 差很多,要看清楚。
numbers and reasons = nombor dan sebab
Untuk soalan 3 dan 4, perenggan C menyatakan penyu boleh berenang lebih daripada empat puluh kilometer sehari, jadi kira bilangan sifar dengan betul. Perenggan D pula menyatakan banyak penyu mati kerana jaring ikan dan plastik di laut, bukan kerana ikan yu. Tulis kedua-dua sebab itu.
Contoh: Many turtles don’t survive because of fishing nets and plastic. — Banyak penyu mati kerana jaring ikan dan plastik.
Awas: Empat puluh dan empat ratus sangat berbeza.
CRead the text again. Correct the word in bold. Write the correct word.Q5 of 5
Example: very small flippers → enormous
Amazing turtles
A Imagine a quiet beach at night. Big, dark shapes slowly come out of the sea. They are green turtles, and they have got enormous flippers.
B These are the famous green turtles of Sabah, and they are on a very special journey. Every year, they swim more than 2,000 kilometres across the sea to the Turtle Islands. It is a very long journey for a sea animal.
C Their journey usually starts in July or August and it takes about two months. The turtles can sometimes swim more than 40 kilometres in one day, and they often dive very deep – perhaps 50 metres under the sea.

E Green turtles are the most famous animals in the Turtle Islands Park. There are books, TV programmes and websites about them. There’s an amazing film too – it’s called Journey of the Turtles. Watch it and you can swim with them too!
can or can’t = 能或不能
第5题:最后一段说有关于绿海龟的书、电视节目和网站,还有一部影片,所以其实可以找到很多资料。粗体的不能和文章意思相反,要改成能。这种题要留意肯定和否定,一个小小的字就会让意思完全相反。
例子: You can find a lot of information about green turtles. 你可以找到很多关于绿海龟的资料。
注意: 只写 can,不必写整句。
can or cannot = boleh atau tidak boleh
Untuk soalan 5, perenggan terakhir menyenaraikan buku, rancangan TV, laman web dan sebuah filem tentang penyu agar. Ini bermakna kita sebenarnya boleh mendapat banyak maklumat. Perkataan tebal dalam ayat itu membawa maksud yang berlawanan. Satu perkataan kecil seperti not boleh mengubah seluruh maksud ayat.
Contoh: You can find a lot of information about green turtles. — Kamu boleh mendapat banyak maklumat tentang penyu agar.
Awas: Tulis can sahaja, tidak perlu seluruh ayat.
DAnswer the questions. Write complete sentences.Q1–2 of 5
Example: Where do the turtles go? → They go to the Turtle Islands.
Length: one sentence
Length: one sentence
complete sentence = 完整句子
回答时要写完整的句子,不要只写一两个词。问题问它们什么时候上岸,第一段说是晚上;问旅程多远,第二段说两千多公里。回答时把问题里的海龟换成它们,动词保持原形。
例子: They come out of the sea at night. 它们在晚上上岸。
注意: 句子开头要大写,句尾要有句号。
complete sentence = ayat lengkap
Jawab dengan ayat lengkap, bukan satu atau dua perkataan sahaja. Perenggan A memberitahu bila penyu naik ke pantai, dan perenggan B memberi jarak perjalanan mereka. Dalam jawapan, gunakan they untuk menggantikan the turtles dan kekalkan kata kerja dalam bentuk dasar.
Contoh: They come out of the sea at night. — Mereka keluar dari laut pada waktu malam.
Awas: Mulakan ayat dengan huruf besar dan akhiri dengan noktah.
DAnswer the questions. Write complete sentences.Q3–4 of 5
Example: Where do the turtles go? → They go to the Turtle Islands.
Length: one sentence
Length: one sentence
find the facts = 找资料
这两题的答案都在第三段:旅程通常在七月或八月开始,月份的英文第一个字母要大写;海龟有时候潜到大约五十米深的海里。把文章里的数字和月份照样写进你的句子,就是完整的答案。
例子: They usually start their journey in July or August. 它们通常在七月或八月出发。
注意: 用 usually 和 sometimes 让句子更准确。
find the facts = cari fakta
Jawapan bagi kedua-dua soalan ini ada dalam perenggan C. Perjalanan biasanya bermula pada bulan Julai atau Ogos, dan nama bulan sentiasa ditulis dengan huruf besar. Penyu kadang-kadang menyelam kira-kira lima puluh meter, jadi salin nombor itu ke dalam ayat kamu.
Contoh: They usually start their journey in July or August. — Mereka biasanya memulakan perjalanan pada bulan Julai atau Ogos.
Awas: Gunakan usually dan sometimes supaya jawapan lebih tepat.
DAnswer the questions. Write complete sentences.Q5 of 5
Example: Where do the turtles go? → They go to the Turtle Islands.
Length: one or two sentences
opinion = 个人看法
最后一题问你的看法,答案可以不一样。先说喜欢或不喜欢,再说理由。例如你喜欢,因为想看海龟在海里游;或者不喜欢,因为比较喜欢看陆地上的动物。理由可以用因为连接。
例子: Yes, I do, because I love the sea. 喜欢,因为我爱大海。
注意: 用 I do 或 I don’t 回答 Do you…? 的问题。
opinion = pendapat
Soalan terakhir meminta pendapat kamu sendiri, jadi jawapan setiap murid berbeza. Katakan ya atau tidak dahulu, kemudian berikan sebab. Mungkin kamu mahu melihat penyu berenang, atau mungkin kamu lebih suka filem tentang haiwan darat. Hubungkan sebab dengan perkataan because.
Contoh: Yes, I do, because I love the sea. — Ya, saya suka, kerana saya sayang laut.
Awas: Jawab soalan Do you dengan I do atau I don’t.
EComplete the dialogues with the words.Q1–4 of 4
Example: ‘Those small birds are very pretty.’ ‘Yes. They’re really beautiful.’
Tap a gap, then tap a word. Tap a filled gap to undo.
1. ‘My favourite parrot is red, blue and yellow.’ ‘It’s very ____.’ ‘Yes, it is.’
2. ‘How many Sumatran rhinos are there in Malaysia?’ ‘None in the wild! They’re very ____.’
3. ‘What colour are sparrows?’ ‘They’re a ____ brown colour – they aren’t very bright birds.’
4. ‘Are there a lot of monkeys near your house?’ ‘Yes, they’re very ____ in my kampung.’
adjectives = 形容词
这四个形容词要看对话的意思来选。红、蓝、黄三种颜色的鹦鹉是色彩丰富的;野外一只也没有的犀牛是非常稀有的;不鲜艳的褐色麻雀是暗淡的;家附近有很多猴子,就是很常见的。每个词只用一次。
例子: They are very common in my kampung. 它们在我的村子里很常见。
注意: common 和 rare 意思相反,不要选错。
adjectives = kata adjektif
Pilih setiap kata adjektif berdasarkan maksud dialog. Burung kakak tua yang berwarna merah, biru dan kuning sangat menarik warnanya. Badak sumbu yang langsung tiada di hutan sangat sukar ditemui. Burung pipit perang yang tidak terang warnanya kelihatan pudar, dan monyet yang banyak berhampiran rumah mudah ditemui.
Contoh: They are very common in my kampung. — Mereka sangat biasa ditemui di kampung saya.
Awas: Common dan rare berlawanan maksud, jadi baca petunjuk dengan teliti.
