ARead Nadia’s project. Choose the correct answers.Q1 of 2

Our project – All about orangutans, by Nadia
Our project is about the orangutans at the Sepilok centre near Sandakan. The centre is more than 50 years old and thousands of people visit it every year. Visitors can watch the orangutans at feeding time, but they can’t touch them. A ranger talks to the visitors about the animals.
In science, we’re learning about animals in danger. The biggest problem for orangutans is losing their forest homes. There are only around 100,000 orangutans in Borneo – it sounds a lot, but it isn’t!

1.What is Nadia’s project about?

Our project is about the orangutans.

main idea = idea utama

Soalan pertama bertanya tentang isi utama projek.

Contoh: Our project is about sea turtles. — Projek kami tentang penyu.

Awas: Baca ayat pertama dahulu.

2.What is she learning about at school?

at school = 在学校

In science, we’re learning about animals in danger.

at school = di sekolah

Contoh: In geography, we’re learning about rivers. — Dalam kelas geografi, kami sedang belajar tentang sungai.

Awas: In danger bermaksud dalam bahaya atau terancam.

BComplete the questions with the words. Then read the text again and answer the questions.Q1 of 4

Words: how many (×2) · what (×2) · who · why – two are extra.

1. people visit the centre every year? Answer:

how many = 多少

How many people visit the centre? — Thousands.

how many = berapa ramai

Contoh: How many pupils are in your class? — Berapa ramai murid dalam kelas kamu?

Awas: How many diikuti oleh kata nama jamak.

BComplete the questions with the words. Then read the text again and answer the questions.Q2 of 4

2. talks to the visitors at feeding time? Answer:

who = 谁

who 当主语的时候,后面的动词要加 s,例如 who talks,就像说 he talks 一样。

Who talks to the visitors? — A ranger.

who = siapa

Apabila who menjadi subjek, kata kerja selepasnya ditambah s, sama seperti ayat dengan he.

Contoh: Who teaches you English?

BComplete the questions with the words. Then read the text again and answer the questions.Q3 of 4

3. is the biggest problem for orangutans? Answer:

what = 什么

The biggest problem is losing their forest homes.

what = apa

The biggest ialah bentuk superlatif.

Contoh: What is the biggest animal in the world? — Apakah haiwan paling besar di dunia?

Awas: The biggest ialah bentuk superlatif bagi big.

BComplete the questions with the words. Then read the text again and answer the questions.Q4 of 4

4. orangutans are there in Borneo? Answer:

numbers = 数量

例子: There are around 100,000 orangutans.

numbers = bilangan

Contoh: How many cats have you got? — Berapa ekor kucing yang kamu ada?

Awas: Nombor besar boleh ditulis dengan angka.

CRead Nadia’s conversation with a ranger at the centre. Can Nadia take photos of the orangutans?Q1 of 1

Nadia: Excuse me, can I ask some questions?
Ranger: Of course!
Nadia: How heavy are the orangutans?
Ranger: An adult male is about eighty kilos. He’s heavier than three children!
Nadia: Where do they sleep?
Ranger: In the trees – up to twenty metres above the ground.
Nadia: Can we give them food?
Ranger: No, sorry. Only the rangers feed them, two times a day.
Nadia: Can I take photos?
Ranger: Yes, you can. Your group has got fifteen minutes on the platform.

1.Can Nadia take photos of the orangutans?

can for permission = 用 can 请求许可

Can I take photos? — Yes, you can.

注意: 简短回答用 she can / she can’t.

can for permission = can untuk minta izin

Contoh: Can I sit here? Yes, you can. — Bolehkah saya duduk di sini? Ya, boleh.

Awas: Jawapan pendek menggunakan she can atau she can’t.

DRead again. Complete the sentences with the numbers.Q1–3 of 5

1. An adult male orangutan is about ____ kilos.

2. He is heavier than ____ children.

3. Orangutans sleep up to ____ metres above the ground.

numbers = 数字

An adult male is about eighty kilos.

numbers = nombor

Contoh: A baby orangutan is about two kilos. — Anak orang utan beratnya kira-kira dua kilogram.

4. The rangers feed the orangutans ____ times a day.

5. Nadia’s group has got ____ minutes on the platform.

Your group has got fifteen minutes.

more numbers = lagi nombor

Contoh: We have got twenty minutes. — Kami ada dua puluh minit.

Awas: Fifteen bermaksud lima belas, manakala fifty bermaksud lima puluh.

EWriting. Imagine you are doing a project about some interesting animals at a zoo or a wildlife centre. Write the first three paragraphs of your project.Q1 of 1

1.Think and plan: What animal is your project about? Where can you see these animals and what is special about the place? What can visitors do there? What are the problems for these animals in the wild? Are you learning about them at school?

Length: about 100 words

Our project is about the sea turtles.

three paragraphs = tiga perenggan

Tulis tiga perenggan seperti projek Nadia.

Contoh: Visitors can take photos, but they can’t touch the turtles.

Awas: Huruf pertama nama tempat mesti huruf besar.
